Kerwin Hall, Room 301

Adjunct Professor Gordon Fletcher will have an in-depth discussion with Ward 5 Councilmember Zachary Parker, Chair of the Committee on Youth Affairs for the Council of the District of Columbia. Juvenile crime has affected various cities across the country with Washington, DC not being immune to such issues as well. Adjunct Professor Gordon Fletcher will discuss a range of issues with Councilmember Parker such as truancy, financial stability, and other ways to improve outcomes for youth who come into contact with those systems. Even more, we will discuss the 16-bill policy package introduced by Councilmember Parker known as C.A.R.E for Youth Plan. This policy package is designed to foster youth wellbeing in the District and close the gaps and systemic failures within DC's juvenile justice and children welfare systems.
