Tocqueville On The Democratic Soul

Dana Jalbert Stauffer is Associate Professor of Instruction and Research Fellow in the Government Department at the University of Texas at Austin. Previously, she taught at Kenyon College. She earned her undergraduate degree from Boston College and her undergraduate degree from Boston College and her PhD in Political Science from the University of Toronto in 2005. Her research interests include women in political thought, enlightenment in classic political thought, and the implications of modern democracy in nineteenth centry political thought, especially that of Alexis de Tocqueville. Her work has appeared in the Journal Politics, Review of Politics, and the American Political Science Review. She is currently at work on a book on Tocqueville's Democracy in America.
