SPA Public Policy Hackathon

Join the School of Public Affairs for our Second Annual Public Policy Hackathon! Designed to bring students together in a collaborative environment, Policy Hackathons have been happening at colleges and universities for the past several years. This is a great opportunity to meet like-minded students and work in a team atmosphere to address a policy problem in a short period of time. The event is designed to mirror challenges you may face in future careers, giving students the opportunity to develop professional research, writing and problem-solving skills.

The SPA Public Policy Hackathon will focus on health policy. Students will receive an email on Friday, March 1, in the evening that includes the policy briefing and introduces teammates. By Monday morning (March 4), teams will submit a policy memo then give a 5-minute presentation at 7:00 pm that evening. Professors in the School of Public Affairs will judge the memos and presentations, awarding the group with the best response.
