This year’s Lincoln Scholars Annual Lecture will be delivered by Anika Prather and is entitled
“Let’s Gather Round the Fire: The Warmth and Power of the Canon for Black Americans”
Dr. Prather is a faculty member at Howard University and has been a prominent advocate for reading classic texts in the light of the African-American tradition and vice versa. She has been published in USA Today and The Point Magazine and quoted in the New York Times. She is the author of Living in the Constellation of the Canon: The Lived Experiences of African-American Students Reading Great Books Literature and holds degrees from Howard University, the University of Maryland, and St. John’s College, Annapolis.
