SPA Public Policy Hackathon

The School of Public Affairs is excited to launch our first ever Public Policy Hackathon! Designed to bring students together in a collaborative environment, Policy Hackathons have been happening at colleges and universities for the past several years. This is a great opportunity to meet like-minded students and work in a team atmosphere to address a policy problem in a short period of time. The event is designed to mirror challenges you may face in future careers, giving students the opportunity to develop professional research, writing and problem-solving skills.

The first SPA Public Policy Hackathon will focus on environmental policy, highlighting a major issue facing the world today. Students will receive an email on Friday, February 23, in the evening that includes the policy briefing and introduces teammates. By Monday morning, teams will submit a policy memo then give a 10-minute presentation at 7:00 pm that evening. Professors in the School of Public Affairs will judge the memos and presentations, awarding the group with the best response.
